DO's & DON'Ts of Talking to Your Child–
Helpful Tips for Talking with Your Child:
DO Talk openly about private parts and explain that their body belongs to them.
DO Believe your child if they tell you something happened.
DO Ask open-ended questions like, “Has something happened that you want to tell me?” or “Tell me more about that…”
DO Discuss appropriate and inappropriate touching. Avoid labeling it as "good" or "bad" since some touches might feel good and cause confusion.
What Not to Do:
Avoid leading questions like “Did Mr. Jones touch you?” as they can cause false disclosures.
Never judge your child for what they share — it is NEVER their fault.
Don’t hesitate to seek professional help if you suspect someone may be grooming your child.
How to Report Child Abuse |
Break the cycle of abuse. Children are vulnerable, and it’s our responsibility as adults to protect them. Together, we can take action and help end the cycle.
By law, anyone who suspects a child is being abused is required to report it to the authorities.
