Admisitrative Division

The Administrative Division at the Summit County Sheriff’s Office provides services such as records requests, jail visitation, civil process, and general administrative support. The team is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in person or by phone at 435-615-3501. Visitors to the Sheriff’s Office are welcomed by this team for assistance.

Corrections and Jail Division

The Summit County Jail is a full-service facility housing up to 100 inmates, including pre-sentenced individuals, misdemeanor offenders, and contracted state prisoners. It features integrated medical, dental, kitchen services, and court access, reducing transport needs. The jail prioritizes public safety while offering programs like substance abuse treatment, GED classes, vocational training, and an inmate work program supporting community projects. Anyone arrested in Summit County is processed and held at the Summit County Jail. The facility houses pre-sentenced individuals, those convicted of misdemeanors, and contracted inmates from the Utah State Prison system.

The Court Services Division processes thousands of civil papers across Summit County annually and provides security for both District and Justice Courts. Under state law, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office must serve civil papers tied to legal actions, including protective orders, judgments, garnishments, summons, writs, and subpoenas. Due to the potential risks—especially in cases involving domestic violence—only highly trained and experienced officers handle these duties.
