YSA runs nationally-recognized afterschool programs, offering a wide range of activities from skiing and mountain biking to cooking and photography. Our programs are open to all students.  Scholarships are available for students needing financial assistance to participate.

Get Out & Play

YSA's Get Out & Play program provides afterschool activities for area students on early release days. YSA partners with parent volunteers, Basin Recreation, Deer Valley, The FitStop, Golf Lodge, Park City Mountain, Park City Ice Arena, Soldier Hollow, Utah Olympic Park, White Pine Touring, Woodward Park City, Young Riders, and more to offer affordable programs that give every child the opportunity to try new sports in a safe supervised environment.

  • GOAP is a fun introduction to a variety of sports in a safe learning environment. Beginning in 1st grade, elementary-aged students can try downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, freestyle skiing, freeride snowboarding, ski jumping, mountain biking, figure skating, speed skating, ice hockey, triathlon, golf, fitness, indoor action sports, among other activities.

  • Program fees include instruction, transportation from schools to participating venues (for most programs) and lift tickets where applicable. Students with financial need are offered fee waivers less a small commitment fee and are provided equipment for use during the program.

  • Programs run from September through May in 3-5 week sessions. The programs are held immediately after school releases on Thursdays for Weilenmann, and Fridays for all other Park City schools.

  • Programs are open to elementary students enrolled in grades 1-5 unless otherwise specified.

Programs are designed for kids with beginner to intermediate skill sets. Advanced levels are not offered due to the many options available through other organizations within the community.

Participating Schools

Park City Schools, Silver Summit, Park City Day School, Telos, North Summit, South Summit Elementary, Wasatch Schools, Weilenmann, and homeschools in the Summit County

ACTiV8 Programs

ACTiV8 is a unique community collaboration made up of nonprofits, businesses, and schools that provide area middle school, junior high and high school students with engaging after-school activities on early release days.

  • Because teen/tween-agers have different needs and wants than their younger, elementary school friends and relatives, all ACTiV8 offerings were developed through brainstorming sessions with students. Multiple activities are offered each month with students having the option to choose one.

  • ACTiV8 focuses on developing eight lifestyle qualities: Accountability, Confidence, Equality, Inspiration, Kindness, Leadership, Respect, and Versatility. Students are given a community passport after their first session. Each student is responsible for obtaining signatures from instructors after each activity. Upon completing eight activities, one of which must include CPR, students receive a Park City ACTiV8 Award. The CPR requirement (Accountability) allows students to earn money as babysitters or from other organizations around town.
