Utah OHV Registration and Permits
Utah OHV registration and permits help fund trail maintenance, safety programs, and enforcement efforts to protect Utah's off-road trails and public lands. By registering your OHV, you’re supporting responsible recreation and ensuring access to our scenic landscapes for generations to come.
All off-highway vehicles (OHVs) in Utah must display a current OHV registration sticker when operated or transported on public lands or roads. Off-highway motorcycles may be registered as street legal if they pass a safety inspection and have valid insurance.
OHV registrations expire annually on the last day of the month the OHV was purchased. As of January 1, 2023, all off-highway vehicles (excluding motorcycles and snowmobiles) must also display a license plate in addition to the registration sticker.

If you are a Utah resident, you can obtain your off-highway vehicle (OHV) registration from the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles. Uniform age-based fees for counties apply as well. Visit the links below to 2025 Uniform Age-based Fee Tables:
Where does the money go? Your OHV registration fees directly support the sport.

Owners of any off-highway vehicles (ATV or UTV), off-highway motorcycles or snowmobiles brought into Utah by non-residents, must obtain a non-resident permit for their machine in order to operate on public land. To obtain a non-resident OHV permit, you must provide proof of out-of-state residency and that the OHV is not owned by a Utah resident.
The non-resident OHV permit cost is $30 and is good for 12 months from the time of purchase. An online transaction fee of $0.90 will be charged for each decal ordered.
NOTICE: Utah no longer has reciprocity with any of the other 49 states.
NOTE- YOU MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE ONLINE UTAH OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE EDUCATION COURSE PRIOR TO PURCHASING YOUR NON-RESIDENT OHV PERMIT.
