BORN FROM CORN PROGRAM

  • This contest offers a space for Spanish-language writers to express themes of social justice, identity, nature, culture, memories, emotions, and reflections on life and death.

  • Born from Corn is a three-part lesson series exploring Maya cosmovision as both history and living culture. Covering identity, sustainability, agriculture, and social justice, it’s designed for grades K-2, 3, 6, and 7-12, with flexible, cross-curricular applications.

  • In partnership with the Mexican Consulate in SLC, this annual art contest invites Latino/Hispanic artists in Utah to submit works in various media for a chance to win prizes and be featured in an exhibit.

  • Utah’s only annual Mexican Independent Film event features films, shorts, and filmmaker Q&As. Co-founded in 2011 with the Salt Lake Film Society, the organization serves as a main co-presenter each year.

  • Founded in 2020, the Escritores de Utah group promotes the belief that “we can all write.” Created by Artes de México en Utah, the group’s diversity in age and gender enriches the range of voices and perspectives shared.

  • This podcast uses art to explore Mexico’s past and present through the perspectives of a Mexican national, a Chicano, and a white American. Each episode reexamines well-known works and narratives, connecting them to contemporary U.S. life.

  • Community conversations, discussions, and workshops offer diverse perspectives from Indigenous, Mestizo, African descendants from Mexico, immigrants, U.S.-born Mexican/Latinos, and non-Latinos to promote understanding and cross-cultural competence.

  • This program, presented with Artes de México en Utah, aims to build community and belonging through cultural connections and art. Art serves as a bridge to reflect on the past and present, finding shared experiences.
