Children are invited to participate in engaging weekly camps held in the garden. Each week features daily cooking and tasting activities, helping young participants build skills, gain confidence, and become more open to trying new foods. Camps are available for both elementary and Pre-K children.

This summer, young children are invited to join exciting camps in the garden, specially designed for our youngest campers. Each week includes daily cooking and tasting activities that help build confidence, skills, and openness to trying new foods. Campers also explore gardening, nature-based arts and crafts, environmental stewardship, and enjoy unstructured outdoor play. These camps thoughtfully adapt elementary camp themes to suit younger participants. We look forward to welcoming your child to a fun and enriching summer experience

Pre-K Camp Information
Schedule: Camps run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for children ages 3 to rising 1st graders
Location: Summit Community Gardens

Pre-K camps are led by Tracy Zisselsberger, a Park City resident with a Master’s in Education, AMS Montessori certification, and over 10 years of experience in early childhood and elementary education.
Spots are limited and may fill quickly—join the waitlist for a chance to secure a spot!

Scholarships
Summit Community Gardens is committed to making camp accessible to all children. If cost is a barrier, scholarships may be available.
Full scholarships are available for families living in Summit or Wasatch County with an income below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Summit County.
Partial scholarships may be available for families between 80–120% AMI.
Families facing special circumstances are also encouraged to apply.
To ensure broad access, scholarships are limited to 2 camps per child and 4 camps per family.

La Milpa
Summit Community Gardens – EATS, in collaboration with Artes de México en Utah, will host a program titled La Milpa / Born from Corn. Artes de México en Utah is a local nonprofit dedicated to fostering community and belonging through cultural connections and the appreciation and creation of art. Through artistic expression, the organization encourages reflection on both the past and present to discover shared experiences and common ground.

This free, public event invites the community to come together for La Milpa planting and a seed blessing in the garden, honoring both ancestral and contemporary Indigenous practices rooted in the Mesoamerican tradition. The workshop will be offered in both English and Spanish
This workshop will explore the importance of connecting with food, understanding its origins, and honoring both the land and what it provides. Participants will also have the opportunity to share personal stories and reflections related to La Milpa.
When it is time to harvest La Milpa! The community is invited to join in celebrating the blessing of the harvest by honoring and sharing the food provided by Mother Earth. This workshop will be offered in both English and Spanish.

After School in the Garden – Spring Session
Children in rising 1st through 6th grades are invited to enjoy hands-on, outdoor learning this spring through After School in the Garden. This engaging program is perfect for kids who love the outdoors, enjoy getting their hands dirty, and are curious about growing and cooking food.
Participants will help prepare the garden—turning soil, planting seeds, tending crops, and harvesting ingredients for a freshly prepared snack each day. Activities include gardening, cooking, nature-based art, and making new friends.
Schedule:
Mondays & Wednesdays: 3:30–5:30 p.m.
Fridays: 1:00–3:00 p.m.
Dates: April 21 – May 30 (no sessions on May 23 or May 26)

Registration for Spring After School in the Garden is now open.
Field Trips
Garden field trips are available for schools, preschools, nonprofits, and daycares across Summit, Wasatch, and Salt Lake Counties. Public, private, charter, and homeschooling groups are all welcome.
Students have the opportunity to learn where food comes from and build a deeper connection to nature. Activities vary by season and may include:
Seed starting
Planting seedlings
Tending crops
Harvesting produce
Exploring pollination and bees
Learning about compost and decomposition
Food preparation activities
Field Trip Details
All garden field trips are led by Erica Snyder, Director of Youth Education, along with the education team. Field trips are available Tuesday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., during the months of April, May, August, September, and October.
Each field trip typically lasts 1.5 to 2 hours and includes time for lunch and a recess break. Students will enjoy a guided garden tour and take part in an interactive activity or craft, which includes a take-home component.
